Breaking in the New Year
It’s almost time for the New Year’s celebration. I’ve wanted to shoot a fracturing light bulb for some time. The time finally came, so I went to Lowe’s to purchase 6 clear oblong and round light bulbs. I set the camera at 1/1000 s, f/5.6, ISO800. I set up 2 SB800’s on either side (one gelled blue, one gelled CTO) AND two Home Depot hot lights, all to get enough light. After breaking all 6 bulbs, none of the images caught the fracture at the exact moment the shutter released. So, I went back to Lowe’s to purchase 6 more bulbs, this time in 2 bulb sizes (because I bought out all of their smaller sizes). Wouldn’t you know it, it wasn’t until the 12th bulb that I finally got one the way I wanted it.
